Designing an Engaging Homepage in Canvas

I had the exciting task of designing a professional development session for the ASU community on crafting engaging homepages in Canvas. Understanding that many faculty members don't have the time or inclination to dive into coding, my mission was to present a straightforward, code-free approach to making their Canvas homepages captivating and accessible.

While creating the slide deck, I meticulously applied Mayer’s Principles of Multimedia and Cognitive Load Theory to ensure the content was both accessible and impactful. I strategically highlighted key information to guide learners and emphasize critical points, making the material clear and engaging.

This workshop has consistently garnered enthusiastic feedback, a testament to its practicality and the tangible benefits it offers to educators.
